Where consultants publish their prices, a scorecard review or gap scan starts at about €1,500 and full preparation of an assessment runs from about €3,500 to €7,500 for small and mid-sized companies. Company size, your starting score and the state of your evidence set the price. The EcoVadis subscription comes on top.
If a customer has asked for your EcoVadis scorecard, the next question is usually what outside help will cost. That depends on what you buy, so this article splits the cost into the parts you will actually see on an invoice.
You pay for 2 separate things
The EcoVadis subscription. EcoVadis charges this directly, every year. According to the EcoVadis Help Center, the fee depends on your company size, the plan you choose (Basic, Premium, Select or Corporate) and your location. It covers the assessment by EcoVadis analysts, your scorecard, the Corrective Action Plan tool and the option to share your results. You can estimate it with the pricing tool on the EcoVadis website. No consultant can lower or replace this fee.
The consultant fee. This is what you pay for someone who knows the scoring model to review your evidence, write or fix policies and help you submit. It is optional, and plenty of companies complete the questionnaire themselves. The rest of this article is about this second line.
Typical prices by type of work
Most consultants do not publish prices. The ones that do give a useful reference point. In September 2026, a Dutch consultancy listed €1,500 to €2,500 for a quick scan with an improvement plan and €3,500 to €5,000 for full guidance across all 21 criteria. A UK consultancy charged £2,950 to £5,600 for managing a full submission, depending on headcount, and quoted larger companies individually.
What you get for that money falls into 4 types of work:
- Scorecard review or gap scan. A consultant reads your last scorecard or your current documents against the methodology and tells you where the points are. It is the smallest scope and usually the best first purchase. Timeline: 2 to 4 weeks.
- Score optimisation on specific themes. You already have a scorecard and want to move up a medal. The work targets the improvement areas that carry the most weight for your industry. Timeline: 4 to 8 weeks.
- Full preparation. Gap analysis, policy writing, evidence collection and questionnaire support for a first assessment or a full overhaul. Timeline: 6 to 12 weeks. This is the most expensive option, because most of the hours go into documents that do not exist yet.
- An appeal or scoring challenge. If you believe an analyst misread your evidence, a review of the scoring is a small piece of work. The 3 appeals among the 63 EcoVadis engagements our consultants ran since January 2024 took between 3 and 10 hours each.
What moves the price up or down
- Company size. EcoVadis tailors the questionnaire to your industry, size and country. A larger company gets more questions and needs evidence that covers more of its operations: site-level documents only count when they cover at least 80% of your sites or employees, and 95% for energy and greenhouse gas KPIs. That is why published prices step up with headcount.
- How much evidence already exists. A company with an environmental policy, a code of conduct and a supplier code that are in daily use needs review work. A company without them needs writing work, and writing takes longer.
- How many themes need attention. Fixing 1 weak theme costs less than rebuilding all 4.
- Who does the portal work. Some consultants advise and you submit. Others fill in the questionnaire for you, which adds hours.
- Your deadline and the season. Demand for EcoVadis help clusters between August and February. If you start in the quiet months, you have more choice of consultant and less time pressure.
- Who coordinates internally. Evidence sits with procurement, HR, legal and operations. If someone on your side can chase it, you buy expertise. If the consultant has to run the whole process, you pay for project management as well.
Pricing models you will come across
- Fixed fee per package. The most common model for scans and full preparation, and easy to budget. Check what happens when the scope grows halfway through.
- Day rate. Common with independent consultants. You pay for the time used, which suits a defined piece of work such as a policy review or an appeal.
- Annual arrangement. Scorecards are valid for 12 months, so some companies agree the review, the implementation and the reassessment support as 1 yearly cycle.
- Score guarantees. Some providers refund their fee if you miss an agreed medal, usually for a surcharge and under strict conditions. Read those conditions carefully. EcoVadis analysts score your evidence independently, and medals are awarded on percentile rank: Bronze is the top 35%, Silver the top 15%, Gold the top 5% and Platinum the top 1% of companies assessed in the previous 12 months, with a minimum of 30 in every theme. The score you need for a medal moves as the whole database improves, so no consultant controls the outcome.
The medal rules are on the EcoVadis medals and badges page.
What a good quote includes
Whichever model you choose, a quote should answer these questions before you sign:
- Which themes and criteria are in scope, and which are not
- What you receive at the end: a gap report, policies, an evidence library, a submitted questionnaire
- Who does the work, by name, and how many EcoVadis assessments that person has run
- How many days or hours are included, and the rate for anything extra
- That the EcoVadis subscription is excluded, since EcoVadis bills it directly
- How the timeline fits your submission window
- What you keep afterwards, so next year’s reassessment does not start from zero
How to spend less
- Review before you open the questionnaire. An EcoVadis gap analysis tells you which gaps matter. Teams that start by filling in answers often find out halfway that the evidence does not exist yet, and end up paying for the same work twice.
- Prepare between March and July. A policy review or an evidence library does not need to happen close to your submission date.
- Keep the evidence library. The second cycle costs less when documents, owners and last year’s judgement calls are still in one place.
- Keep the same consultant. Every returning client in our 63 engagements kept the same person. The second year goes faster when they already know where your evidence lives.
- Use the free material first. Our EcoVadis Workbook 2026 walks through each theme with exercises, so you can do part of the review yourself before you pay anyone.
Where Dazzle fits
Dazzle matches companies with an independent EcoVadis consultant, usually within 48 hours, for a defined project or interim work. You can interview the consultant first, and you receive a proposal with scope and fee before anything starts, so you know the cost before you commit.
Not sure which kind of support fits your situation? We compared accredited partners, boutique consultancies and independent consultants, including when our own model is the wrong choice.
