EcoVadis is the world’s largest sustainability rating platform, used by more than 150,000 rated companies across 180 countries. It evaluates businesses on four core themes: Environment, Labor and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. Companies receive a scorecard with a score from 0 to 100 and a medal (Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum). Many large enterprises require their suppliers to hold an EcoVadis rating as part of their procurement criteria.
The average EcoVadis score is around 44 out of 100. Since January 2024 medals are awarded on percentile rank, not on fixed scores: Bronze is the top 35 percent of rated companies, Silver the top 15, Gold the top 5 and Platinum the top 1. That means the score you need moves as the database grows. In mid 2026 Gold sits around 80 and Platinum around 86. No theme score may be below 30 to qualify at all. Most supply chain requirements ask for Silver or Gold.
A gap assessment typically takes 2 to 4 weeks. Full preparation, including document creation and questionnaire submission, takes 6 to 12 weeks depending on your company’s size and complexity. Score optimization for companies already rated can be done in 4 to 8 weeks.
